About Me

Education

After graduating as the valedictorian of Cooper City High School in 2011, I earned my bachelors degree through the University of Florida and graduated with honors.

Currently, I am finishing my masters in Communication Science & Disorders through Florida State University's speech-language pathology distance learning program.

Career

For the last seven years, I have supported K-5 students as a special education teacher. As a highly effective designated educator, I supported general education students with and without disabilities in the areas of reading, writing, math, social skills, independent functioning, and more.

In addition to supporting students directly with evidence-based and individualized interventions, I collaborated with families and school staff to ensure our students were supported at all levels.

I hold Florida teacher certification and endorsements in the following areas:

  • Elementary Education K-6

  • Exceptional Student Education K-12

  • English for Speakers of Other Languages

  • Reading K-12

I'm incredibly proud of each of my students. Over 90% of my graduating 5th graders left elementary school reading on grade level and will be strong middle school students.

Related Experience

  • Local Education Agency (LEA) designee - In addition to running IEP meetings, I have experience educating families and staff about policies, procedures, and legal safeguards the support the best services for our students.

  • Student Clinician - As part of my masters degree, I have earned over 250 clinical treatment and assessment hours with children ages 2-21 in the field of speech-language pathology. This includes receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language; fluency/stuttering; AAC; articulation; literacy, and more.

  • Multi-Cultural & Diversity Affairs Ambassador - I led the Operations department with a focus on organization, communication, and ensuring everyone feels welcome.

  • School Advisory Council Co-Chair - I supported the development of School Improvement Plans (every school has one; check your school's website!), including establishing and monitoring goals related to attendance, student performance (including the lowest performing 25% and socio-economic minorities), and how to increase learning gains and drive proficiency in reading in math.

Personal life

I currently live in Pembroke Pines with my husband and our adorable (if I do say so myself) puppy! On the weekends, you'll catch us cheering on the LA Rams, watching scary movies, fixing up our house, and learning how to cook new recipes from all over the world! We love to travel, but south Florida will always be our home. You can't beat the sunshine!
